U.S. News & World Report: Premature Births Twitter Chat

TwitterChat

This Thursday, U.S. News & World Report, the American Academy of Pediatrics, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and March of Dimes are hosting a live Twitter chat about premature births in the United States.

Experts are prepared to discuss the latest research and innovations in therapy. They will cover prevention and treatment; complications; what to expect in the hospital and how to care for your baby when he or she goes home.

For an overview of the chat’s focus, check out the latest @USNewsHealth article.

Date: Thursday, May 23
Time: 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. PT
Hashtag: #Preemie
Moderator: @USNewsHealth
Experts: @AmerAcadPeds, @ChildrensPhila and @marchofdimes

Are there any questions you’re interested in? I would be happy to send them in advance, as I will also be participating in the chat. (And please join in as well if you’re one of the tweeter types yourself.)

As we rapidly round the corner to age 3 for our own favorite preemie superheroes, I am thrilled that prematurity continues to get the attention it deserves – because I am keenly aware not everyone is as lucky as we have been.

  1. Tricia, thanks so much for the heads up on this. Will repost this on my fb page. Thx!

  2. I am especially interested in any statistics that show therapy for preemies/micropreemies is critical in the early years of development.

Additionally, our 27wker needs multiple therapies/equipment. Since we had to drop down to one income, so I could tend to the healthcare of our son, we still did not qualify for Medicaid. Are there any resources (financial) that you can recommend for middle class families that fall through the cracks?

Lastly, we live in NC and could not find any supplemental support, so we created a foundation to support preemies that need therapy and equipment. Please visit our facebook/Twitter page (Bee Mighty) or our online site. http://www.beemighty.org If you hear from any families that need help in our area, please direct them to our resources.

Thank you for doing this. I look forward to the information.
