Baseball’s back!
The boys have spent the past several months practicing
and warming up in spring training.
They’ve honed new skills and cross-trained.
Meanwhile, grounds crews across the country
have pristinely groomed each major league diamond.
It’s time to take the field.
The strong rivalry at first face-off hasn’t diminished.
But never underestimate the fun to be had by all.
(Thank goodness no one had any pie.)
The excitement amid the crowd is palpable.
Search is getting ready in the on-deck circle.
Finally he strides to the plate.
He swings!
It’s a hard grounder to the shortstop.
Destroy judges its trajectory.
He fields it cleanly and runs the ball back in.
Side retired.
Destroy is up.
He takes in the tee as the timeless styling’s of Vin Scully call out his stats.
He swings!
The sweet sound of the crack of the bat.
(Except not against the ball.)
Oops. Not what I meant to do.
Here’s to getting it down sometime in the next 161 games.
PLAY BALL!
(And go Blue.)
Here’s to the next 6 months of a fantastic rivalry. Go Giants!!!! Happy opening day!!
GO.BLUE.
First, your lawn is immaculate!
The world is better with baseball in it. I’m glad your kids are into it (CJ, in a last-ditch attempt to get me to let him stay awake, will ask if I want to watch baseball so that he can watch it with me)
Yay Baseball!!
