Happy Halloween: Disguises through the years

The muppets went trick-or-treating tonight. I’m not sure who was more excited. (Ok, I’m totally sure – it was me.) You’ll have to stay tuned for the full adventurous recap.

But just for kicks – here’s a memory jog of disguises through the years (so far). Continue reading

The Muppet Theory

There’s a new theory out there. One I think we can all relate to.

History has seen many famous psychologists: Descartes – the father of modern philosophy, Pavlov and his dogs, Maslow with his hierarchy of needs, Frued’s issues with his mother, identity-crisis Erikson, Jung and his introverted/extroverted personalities, Piaget’s studies of children, and now, Dahlia Lithwick.

The Mupppet Theory. Continue reading

Muppet Shoes (Surprisingly Not a Metaphor)

Oh. My. God.

Muppet geeks can get their kicks a little greener this fall, as adidas releases its new Superstar II sneaker inspired by Kermit the Frog, the Muppets most visible front man. The Kermit the Frog – Adidas Superstar II shoes feature a white leather and patent upper, with a white toe box and green rubber outsole. Running along one of the green leather stripes are the words “The Original Hip Hop.” The shoe’s tongue hangs a version of Kermit’s fringed collar. Continue reading

A Very Merry Muppet

Statler: I always dreamed we’d be back here.
Waldorf: Dreams? Those were nightmares!

Come on, you had to know this post was coming.

The Muppets have been back in town three days. I looked for a Tuesday night Northern California midnight showing; I was unsuccessful. I tried to coerce colleagues, family and friends to play hooky on Wednesday and take in a movie with me. They all said no. Continue reading

How the Muppets Were Saved

It’s time to play the music! It’s time to light the lights! It’s time to raise the curtain on…THE BIGGEST COMEBACK TOUR EVER!

You’ve heard of the Muppets right? No, not MY muppets – their puppety namesakes.

After more than a decade spent largely out of the spotlight, mostly doing whatever felt puppets do when no one is watching, Miss Piggy, Kermit the Frog, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, and the rest of the Muppet repertory company are poised to return to the big screen on Nov. 23 in Disney’s splashy, star-studded musical comedy The Muppets. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

It’s all Hallows Eve. Day of the Dead. Children hide themselves within cute and clever costumes (except for a slew of teenagers that showed up at my house). They go door to door in search of fun-sized candy – threatenng tricks to those who dare to proffer raisins or toothbrushes. (Seriously! Who does that?!)

And this year, I have toddlers. So it was with tremendous pride that the muppets cleverly disguised themselves as muppets. Kermit and Fozzie Bear hit the town tonight. Continue reading

The Rainbow Connection

I got a message from my cousin yesterday – she’d found The Muppets: The Green Album. Along with deliciously caffeinated overpriced coffee-like drinks, Starbucks is also selling hipster music albums these days.

How could I pass up THE MUPPETS? “An assortment of today’s top artists put a twist on familiar selections from The Muppet songbook.” Continue reading

This Party was Brought to you by the Number 1

What is the point of having a first birthday party? The little ones are still too young to understand what’s going on around them. Jon and I agree. The first birthday is for the parents: “We kept the kid alive for a whole year! Come celebrate!” Continue reading
