Muppet Shoes (Surprisingly Not a Metaphor)

Oh. My. God.

Muppet geeks can get their kicks a little greener this fall, as adidas releases its new Superstar II sneaker inspired by Kermit the Frog, the Muppets most visible front man. The Kermit the Frog – Adidas Superstar II shoes feature a white leather and patent upper, with a white toe box and green rubber outsole. Running along one of the green leather stripes are the words “The Original Hip Hop.” The shoe’s tongue hangs a version of Kermit’s fringed collar. Continue reading

You’ve heard of the Muppets right? No, not MY muppets – their puppety namesakes.

After more than a decade spent largely out of the spotlight, mostly doing whatever felt puppets do when no one is watching, Miss Piggy, Kermit the Frog, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, and the rest of the Muppet repertory company are poised to return to the big screen on Nov. 23 in Disney’s splashy, star-studded musical comedy The Muppets. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

It’s all Hallows Eve. Day of the Dead. Children hide themselves within cute and clever costumes (except for a slew of teenagers that showed up at my house). They go door to door in search of fun-sized candy – threatenng tricks to those who dare to proffer raisins or toothbrushes. (Seriously! Who does that?!)

And this year, I have toddlers. So it was with tremendous pride that the muppets cleverly disguised themselves as muppets. Kermit and Fozzie Bear hit the town tonight. Continue reading
