As I mentioned yesterday, my state seems to be struggling slightly when it comes to the whole reading and math concepts. (Clearly their parents never read them Harold and the Purple Crayon…)
But there was another report card that just came out too: The March of Dimes 2011 Premature Birth Report Cards. And the sunny state of California earned a B – above average. 10.3 percent of under-gestationally ready babies. (Haha.) Continue reading

The nation’s educational assessment report card came out today. Once again California received an Unacceptable. Overall, the Golden State held up the rear – our future’s reading scores coming in above the intelligence found in our capital, Washington, D.C., and NO ONE ELSE. Mathematically, we beat out Mississippi and Alabama too. (Given our state’s current fiscal status, this does not surprise me.) Continue reading

It’s all Hallows Eve. Day of the Dead. Children hide themselves within cute and clever costumes (except for a slew of teenagers that showed up at my house). They go door to door in search of fun-sized candy – threatenng tricks to those who dare to proffer raisins or toothbrushes. (Seriously! Who does that?!)
And this year, I have toddlers. So it was with tremendous pride that the muppets cleverly disguised themselves as muppets. Kermit and Fozzie Bear hit the town tonight. Continue reading
